Non-Conventional Marketing Given that I am my own publisher/distributor with a very small print run, my marketing methods must, by necessity, be unique. I do enjoy participating in craft fairs and have given talks on writing and self-publishing. I hope to do more of the same. I also find satisfaction in getting my books in "bookstores"--just seems so right for some reason--like that's where they are supposed to be, and, yes, I'm being facetious. At present, I'm focused on the independent book stores in Mississippi. That focus alone is enough to keep one person busy. I've also found a supportive market in Mississippi's gift stores. I've only begun to approach potential businesses that might be willing to take my book, but I am pleased to highlight those stores that have agreed to carry some of my work if only on a trial basis. I hope you'll find a vendor near you and ask for one of my books. These stores are privately owned gift stores or independent book stores. If they don't have the book you are requesting in stock, they can order it from me--and it gets my name in front of them. That support is very valuable in establishing me as a writer/publisher.
