Welcome to the website of Charlsie Russell and Loblolly Writer's House, author and home of historical mystery and suspense set in Mississippi. Each novel offers readers a complimentary sojourn into Southern history, replete with a sensual romance. River’s Bend is now available for download to Kindle at Amazon’s Kindle store. Yep, I was ultimately successful in creating that mobipocket/.prc book and uploading it to Amazon’s DTP. I’ve chronicled the adventure at my blog, Loblolly Log (see sidebar), so if you’re interested in doing likewise and not sure where to start, drop in over there and review what I did. Since my last update, Barnes and Noble (B&N) has picked up River’s Bend in print—a perk for choosing Lightning Source (LSI) as its printer. LSI, a digital printer, is owned by the book distributor Ingram and therein lies my “in” to the big chains. The book is also available in EPUB format for B&N’s Nook—that distributor is Mike Coker over at Smashwords (see sidebar). All of my books are available for Nook at B&N, not so for the print copy—I’ve still got to get the other three to LSI. If you do visit Barnes and Noble’s virtual store, note the five-star review I received from a pleased fan of River’s Bend. Finding both the print book and that five-star review at B&N this past week were happy surprises. In addition to the five-star review at B&N, I’ve had some fan mail on River’s Bend, so pop on over to its fan page if your so inclined and take a look at what readers are saying. Charlsie Russell will be out there in 2012 signing and selling her books at local craft fairs: 03/23-24/2012-At the Pine Hill Festival in Wiggins, Mississippi 04/14-15/2012-At the Picayune Street Fair in downtown Picayune. 05/05/2012-At the Okatoma Festival in downtown Collins, MS. 10/2012-In Pascagoula for the annual Zonta Festival. 10/2012-The Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi for the annual Swap Meet portion of festivities in conjunction with Cruisin' The Coast. Normally readers would find me at D'Iberville for Cruisin, but this year that growing city is undergoing major street expansion to its downtown and will not participate in Cruisin'. 11/2012-At the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi for the Ron Meyers' Christmas City Gift Show. I'll be at booth 33! Caffeine and Ice Cream in Dolphin Court on Pass Road in Gulfport, MS 228-868-1198 All Wrapped Up! gift store on Sangani Blvd. in D'Iberville, MS Bay Books on Main Street in old town Bay St. Louis, MS Cover to Cover Books in Natchez is closing its brick and mortar store 1 January 2012 and converting to a strictly online business. Charles and Rosemary Hall will still carry my books Main Street Books on Main Street in Hattiesburg Mimi's Used Books and Treasures on Bankhead Street in downtown New Albany, MS (Union County) For readers not close to one of these stores, you can order my books from Amazon, and you can still order directly from me thru this website. In addition to the stores referenced above, which routinely take and sell my books, I have broached a number of other independent book stores across the state that have taken copies of my books on a trial basis. Link to my Buy Books Page to see who they are, and if you're in the vicinity of one of those stores, consider approaching the buyer and requesting one of my books. And, again, I hope that in the near future, considering my new affilition with Lightning Source printing, all my books will be available through the big chain stores. Right now, interested readers should be able to order River's Bend through their local chain anywhere in the country.
